New York Rangers: From Expansion Team to NHL Powerhouse

The Early Years

The New York Rangers were founded in 1926 as one of the NHL's first expansion teams. Despite their humble beginnings, the Rangers quickly established themselves as a competitive force. In their first season, they finished with a record of 19-19-6, which was good enough for fifth place in the American Division.

The Presidents Trophy Years

The Rangers reached their peak in the early 2010s, when they won the Presidents Trophy three times in four years. In 2014-15, they set franchise records with 53 wins and 113 points. The Rangers also made it to the Stanley Cup Final that year, but fell to the Los Angeles Kings in five games.

Current Status

The Rangers remain one of the NHL's most storied franchises. They have won four Stanley Cups, most recently in 1994. They also have a strong fan base, and their home games at Madison Square Garden are always well-attended.

Looking to the Future

The Rangers are looking to build on their recent success. They have a young and talented roster, led by stars such as Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad. The Rangers are also one of the most active teams in the NHL trade market, and they are always looking for ways to improve their chances of winning the Stanley Cup.
