Jane Austen's 'Persuasion' Gets a Modern Adaptation on Netflix

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming period film, "Persuasion," which is based on the classic novel by Jane Austen. The film stars Dakota Johnson as Anne Elliot, a woman who is still regretting her decision to reject a marriage proposal eight years ago. Now, the man she once loved (Cosmo Jarvis) is back in her life, and she must decide whether to give him a second chance.

A Fresh Perspective

This new adaptation of "Persuasion" promises to be a fresh and modern take on the classic story. Carrie Cracknell directs the film, and the screenplay was written by Alice Victoria Winslow. The cast also includes Henry Golding, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Richard E. Grant.

"Persuasion" is set to premiere on Netflix on July 15, 2022.
