Tatum and Brown's stellar performances led the Celtics to a 3-0 series lead over the Mavericks

The Celtics closed out the first quarter of Monday's NBA Finals Game 5 in commanding fashion, grabbing a 32-18 lead.

The Celtics went on to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals, winning the series 4-1 and extending their league-best record to 18 NBA championships.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics in scoring with 27 points, while Jaylen Brown added 24 points and 10 rebounds. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 28 points, but shot poorly from the field, going 10-of-26 overall.

The Celtics' win was a total team effort, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Robert Williams III had 11 rebounds and four blocks, while Marcus Smart added 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
