Vernon Leonard Davis, born January 31, 1984, has announced his retirement from the National Football League (NFL) after 14 seasons. The former tight end played for the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos, among other teams.

Davis was a key player for the 49ers, helping them reach Super Bowl XLVII in 2012. He also had a productive stint with the Broncos, catching 24 touchdown passes during his tenure there.

Davis's retirement marks the end of a successful NFL career. He finished with 583 receptions for 7,562 yards and 63 touchdowns. He was also named to the Pro Bowl twice.
