2008 Men's 4x100m Freestyle Relay Results: A Race for the Ages

Team USA Takes Gold, Defending Their Olympic Dominance

In a thrilling and electrifying race, Team USA emerged victorious in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the 2008 Olympics. The quartet of Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones, and Jason Lezak put on a dominant performance, breaking the world record and securing the gold medal. Their time of 3:08.24 shattered the previous record of 3:09.06, which had been held by Australia since 2001.

Silver and Bronze Go to France and Australia

France and Australia fought hard for the remaining podium positions. France, led by legendary swimmer Alain Bernard, claimed the silver medal with a time of 3:08.33. Australia, a powerhouse in the 4x100m freestyle, took the bronze with a time of 3:09.91. The Australian team, featuring Eamon Sullivan, Andrew Lauterstein, Ashley Callus, and Matt Targett, gave it their all but ultimately came just short of the silver.
